What’s Your 2017 Digital Marketing Plan?
I am a big proponent of Social Media Marketing and all it has to offer small businesses. It is easy to gravitate to the sparkly ball of social media and all the buzz that surrounds it, however, one of the best compliments to your social media efforts is email marketing. Below are 4 ways to make email marketing work for you and your business.
- Collect email addresses from your fans and followers. Throw a contest and require an email registration for it. Social media is the perfect medium for this, and you can turn fans into customers quicker when you can communicate via email. Give them an incentive to register, like a gift card or free services or even an offer to download a free white paper. It works.
- Don’t try to sell with every email. Now that you have their email, don’t blow it. Not unlike social media, your email marketing campaigns should provide valuable information to your audience. You want the recipient to look forward to your next email, you don’t want their first reaction to be DELETE! Or worse, unsubscribe.
- Don’t over communicate. We now know that the type of content in your emails is important, let’s make sure we don’t fill their inboxes every day with an email. Depending on your business, weekly at most, monthly or even quarterly emails should suffice.
- Measure your ROI. There are great email services that require minimal investment out there that will allow you to measure your open rate, click through, etc. Make sure you have a call to action that would promote a click to your website or a landing page so you can see how your engagement level is doing. Some services will even allow A/B testing so you can measure subject line effectiveness and content preferences among your subscribers. A couple of our favorites, Mail Chimp & Constant Contact.
Some of g2 media pro’s customers are seeing as high as a 33% open rate on their emails. If you have ever done an email campaign, you know this is a stone cold home run, hit it out of the park type of number! Done correctly, email marketing can turn fans into customers.
